On October 17th 2017, we will be presenting our preliminary findings and sharing our first resource at the CliniQ Trans Health Matters Conference in London. We will have a talk about the project, share a booklet we are currently working on to share some of the things that were shared at our first workshops back in May, and will be part of a panel discussion on this topic.
The talk will be titled TransActions: A Project with Trans People Who Sell Sex and our abstract is below:
TransActions is an on-going participatory project that seeks to share knowledge and produce useful resources with and for trans people who sell sex. This paper presents on the work we have completed so far, and specifically reports on a workshop attended by sex workers and practitioners who work with trans sex workers. The overarching aim of the workshop was talk to people about developing a resource for sex workers; but what we found was that the workshop in-and-of itself provided an important and safe space to share knowledge, experiences and opinions about sex work. This talk shares some of the themes that were discussed during the workshop including: key issues faced by trans people in the course of sex work; what researchers considering doing work with trans sex workers should think about and tips for organisations who want to engage trans sex workers in their service provision.
